In a recent roundtable discussion on “The AI Challenge: Opportunities, Challenges, Regulation, and Risk Management,” led by Adv. Vered Zlaikha, Partner and Head of Cyber Affairs and AI practice at our firm, we held five professional sessions that sparked fascinating discussions.
Here are the key takeaways from the sessions:
Josef Gedalyahu, Senior Director of AI Regulation and Ethics, at the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, provided an update on the establishment of a governmental AI Knowledge-sharing Center, that will support regulators in AI oversight within their respective domains, facilitate coordination among regulators, and connect them with the industry.
Adv. Vered Zlaikha, Partner and Head of Cyber Affairs and AI at Lipa Meir & Co., highlighted that even in the absence of new comprehensive AI laws in Israel, existing laws such as privacy protection laws or anti-discrimination legislation, are relevant and should be applied when organizations use AI technologies. She also referred to the wide scope of the EU AI Act and noted that Israeli companies selling AI products or outputs based on AI systems to the EU, should examine the EU AI Act implications on their activities.
Yaniv Kanat-Maymon, Ph.D. from the School of Psychology at Reichman University and CO-Founder partner of ACUMEN AI remarked that today, 83% of companies are deploying AI tools, that significantly impact our lives. Almost any user may potentially “bend” the model and deceive it to gain benefits or discounts or trick the model through prompt engineering to breach the model’s security and access sensitive information.
Yoav Evenstein, an international AI Standards expert, warned that unregulated use of AI technology could have disastrous consequences, such as racial bias in an AI model resulting from inherently biased data. Therefore, it is crucial to develop tools for regulating and testing these models to avoid harmful outcomes.
Ariel Peled, Co-Founder and CTO of Acumen AI, described the challenges in the collapse of security schemes in the field of Gen AI and discussed the risks associated with using LLMs in the business world.
Thank you to all the speakers for the engaging discussion. Looking forward to seeing you at the next conference.
